Home Performance Consultants joins the Dept. of Energy's Builders Challenge
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has posed a challenge to
the homebuilding industry - to build 220,000 high performance homes by 2012. The
initiative is called the Builders Challenge, and homes that qualify must meet a
70 or better on the EnergySmart Home Scale (E-Scale). The E-Scale is a scale that

Q. What kind of work can I get done?
A.Some of the more common work includes adding insultion, reducing
drafts (air sealing), and repairing or upgrading heating systems. We can also provide
additional information on what can be done to improve the energy efficiency, health
and safety, and durability of your home. More information about

Q. How do I find out if I'm eligible to receive an incentive?
A. If your househod income is at or below the income listed for your household size,
you may qualify for an incentive through Assisted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR.

Q. Are there incentives for apartment building owners?
A. Yes, incentives are available to the owner, if the owner or tenants
in a 1 - to 4-family building are income eligible. Contact

Q. Will a home inspection include a carbon monoxide check?
A. Yes. We will check carbon monoxide levels when doing a home assessment.
Should a carbon monoxide problem be present, we must correct it before any other
work can be done on the home.
